Lance Lyons

Lance Lyons was born in San Diego, CA in 1960. At the age of three he was introduced into his family's acrobatic comedy variety act. He and his family performed in shows in the United States and Europe. They performed in theatres, arenas, and state fairs and television shows such as "Hollywood Palace".

At the age of fourteen while still in school Lance went to work for his family's taxidermy studio, the renowned Lyons and O'Haver in San Diego, Ca. This is when Lance began his career with the wild creatures of the world. For Lance, the freedom, power and romance of the outdoors are a vital part of his creative process. The authentic and often romantic nature of his realism are what continues to drive him to capture those rare and precious moments in wood that will guarantee his work to be remembered forever.

Lance has received many honors and awards. Some of them are first place and best of show at the Pacific Southwest Wildlife Arts Show in San Diego, CA. First place at the Ward World Championships in Ocean City, MD. Also first place, best of show and "Best In World" 2001, at the prestigious Breakthrough World Fish Carving Championship in Springfield, IL.

Lance's time honored method of wood carving, using Brazilian jelutong wood with a technique mastered over years of study, have brought collectors from all over the world to Lance's studio shows and representing galleries
